DRIVE ME THROUGH THE NIGHT

Patricia Lambertus & Isabella Sedeka

The Duo Exhibition ‚DRIVE ME THROUGH THE NIGHT’ with Patricia Lambertus and Isabela Sedeka deals with historical events and the role of life in its transience.

The Exhibhition is also an invitation to negotiate what the pandemic has taught us: the interdependence between the priorities and the needs, the very local and the global, the inside and the outside, the digital and the analogue, the public and the personal.

Patricia Lambertus‘ visually powerful spatial installation is based on the historical wall paintings of the ancient city of Pompeii and brings them into a contemporary context. Within the pictorial space there are diverse layers of images that can be read like archaeological stratigraphies. The installation by Patricia Lambertus moves in the tension between fiction and reality as well as between beauty and destruction. Historical-social events and their contexts as well as their relevance and resonance in the present are traced and pictorially realized. The focus here is on the fractures, cracks and interfaces.

Originally, Isabella Sedeka’s creative work was anchored in painting. In the last two years, Isabella Sedeka has turned to sculpture. She uses the material tin foil. The themes of her work are transience and communication. Isabella Sedeka’s works are in constant movement, in flux, reacting to light, wind and draughts. Isabella Sedeka relies on artcycling, the material is used again and again. She detaches herself from the idea of storage, eternity and and deals with environmentally friendly transport.
